Wilmer Smith of Bismarck, Missouri departed this life on June 9, 2013 at his residence having reached the age of seventy nine years, four months and twenty four days. He was born on January 16, 1934 in Ellington, Missouri a son to the late Samuel Smith and Erna Mae (Buckner) Smith.
Smitty, as many of his family and friends knew him, served in the United States Army from July 11, 1956 until June 25, 1958. During his service he received The Good Conduct Medal.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are two sons Wil Smith and wife Karen of Wentzville, Wilmer Thomas Smith and wife Angela of Blackwell; three daughters Loreene Lewis of Fenton, Karen Smith of Goose Creek, Sandra Lake and husband Charles of Goose Greek; three sisters Mildred Scott of Pevely, Glenda Smith of Oklahoma, Wanda "Sue" Reese of Ellington; nine grandchildren Heather Lewis, Stephanie Lewis, C.J. Lake, Brittani Lake, Tony Smith, Nicholas Smith, Tommy Smith, III, Emily Smith, Nathaniel Thomas Smith; many other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Wilmer was preceded in death by his wife Dormalee Smith, five brothers Robert Smith, Roy Smith, Jimmy Smith, Paul Smith, Arthur Smith, three sisters Beaulah Craig, Joyce Wohlbold and Shirley Buenniger.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 from 4:30 PM – 8 PM DeClue Funeral Home. A Funeral service was held on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 10 AM DeClue Chapel with Reverend Dale Stringer, AmHeart Hospice Chaplin, Officiating.
Interment and final prayers were held at the Greeley Cemetery where full military honors were presented by the United States Army. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
