Wilma Brooks

June 19, 1925 — July 25, 2008

Wilma Brooks of Farmington, formerly of Belgrade, departed this life on Friday, July 25, 2008 at Camelot Nursing Center, Farmington, Missouri, having reached the age of eighty-three years, one month and six days. She was born on June 19, 1925 at Caledonia, Missouri, a daughter of the late William Sherman Hall and Eva Fay Gunter Hall.

She was united in marriage to Charlie W. Brooks on August 27, 1943 and four children were born to that union. Mr. Brooks preceded her in death on December 3, 1994.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son; two sisters, Edna Lee Boyer and Ruth Lands; a brother, Clyde Hall; a son-in-law, Oval Dean Berry; and a great great grandson, Asthan Michael Brooks.

An avid gardener, you could many times find her digging in gardens and flowerbeds. She was also handy with a needle and thread; her patchwork quilts were beautifully crafted.

To many, she was an angel on earth ? always willing to help a friend or stranger in need. Her giving nature, compassion and kindness, live on in the hearts of those whose lives she touched. She was the kind of person everyone strives to be. . . fully accepting, non-judgmental, always loving.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was a member of the Belgrade Church of God for many years.

Those who remain to mourn the passing of her life include two sons, Carl Brooks and wife, Veatrice of Belgrade, Kevin Brooks and wife, Doris of Farmington; a daughter, Linda Berry of Rockford, IL; several grandchildren; great grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins and many other relatives who will sadly miss her.

Funeral services were conducted on Monday, July 28, 2008 at 10 AM at the Britton Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Rev. Steven Thomas officiating.
