William Smith

William ?Bill? Sherman Smith of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on March 13, 2008 at Washington County Memorial Hospital, having reached the age of fifty-six years, three months and twenty-six days. He was born on November 15, 1951 at Bonne Terre, Missouri, a son of the late Oscar Lynwood Smith and Marjorie Marie Wagner Smith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sheilan Chance and a niece, Casie Marie Wheeler.

He attended Pleasant Hill Christian Church and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather; a dear brother, uncle, cousin and friend.

Those who remain to mourn the passing of his life include his wife, Melba Smith of Potosi; a daughter, Darla Johnson and husband, Matt of Olney, IL; two step sons, Christopher Davis of Bonne Terrre, Gary Henson and fianc? Stacy Stewart of Bonne Terre; two step daughters, Pam Gibbs and husband, Steve of Fredericktown, Lisa LaChance and husband, Mike of Potosi; two brothers, Michael Smith of St. Louis, Patrick Smith of Valles Mines; two sisters, Beverly Gidden and husband, Jim of Wortham, Margaret Ellis and husband, Ron of Potosi; twelve grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a close family friend, Joe Huth of St. Louis; nieces; nephews; cousins and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, March 16, 2008 at 2 PM at the Britton Chapel, Potosi, Missouri, with Rev. Michael Wands officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Gary Henson, Chris Davis, Patrick Smith, Tim Whaley, Ron Ellis and Michael Smith.
Interment and final prayers were held at Sunset Hill Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
