William Eugene Rigel, of Caledonia, Missouri, known fondly as Bill, was born on November 3, 1958, in St. Louis, Missouri, a son to William S. Rigel and Lois (Tiefenauer) Rigel. His journey came to an unexpected end on Sunday, March 2, 2025 at the age of 66.
Bill was a joyful and spirited man, who lived life to the fullest and embraced adventure. He was an avid outdoorsman, known for his love of fishing big catfish in the Mississippi River. Working on cars and driving fast were a passion of his as well. An expert survivalist, he could always protect and provide. As a young man, he showcased his adventurous spirit through extreme camping trips, breaking wild horses and hunting wild boar in Florida, earning him a reputation that often compared him to Rambo.
Bill was a generous person, always putting others' needs before himself. He had a loving demeanor and was slow to anger, demonstrating strong principles and compassion in everything he did. He was a devoted father and true friend to all. Bill was also the best grandpa. His two grandchildren, Kaly and Mason, were the light of his life, and he always made sure they had the greatest time together. His love for his family was immense, and this was reflected in his close relationships with them.
He is survived by his mother, Lois Rigel; his daughter, Brandy (Travis) Zoph; two grandchildren, Kaly and Mason; his three siblings: Mark (Amy) Rigel, Pamela Rigel, and Dwight (Jessica) Rigel; his loving companion Crystal Parra and her daughter LeAnn; as well as his previous wife and mother of his daughter, Cyndi Rousan. He also leaves behind special nieces and nephews who were dear to him, along with extended family and close friends. Bill was preceded in death by his father, William S. "Bill" Rigel; and an infant brother, Jeffery Rigel.
Bill was a faithful believer in the Lord and found happiness in his faith. He truly loved life and brought joy to everyone around him. Bill will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at DeClue Funeral Home, located at 301 E High Street, Potosi, MO 63664. The funeral service will follow from 2:00 PM. Interment and final prayers will follow at Belleview Presbyterian Cemetery, Caledonia, Missouri. Funeral arrangements were respectfully entrusted to the care and direction of DeClue Funeral Home.
