William Ray Gowen of Bonne Terre, Missouri, was born on April 20, 1951, in Bonne Terre, Missouri, a son to the late Alvie David Gowen and Bessie Grace (Steinmetz) Gowen. William passed away on Friday, July 15, 2022, having reached the age of seventy-one years, two months, and twenty-five days.
On December 30, 1972, William was united in marriage to Shirley Maness, and they spent 49 wonderful years together.
Those who remain to treasure his memory include his children: Wanda Gowen, Steven Maness, Cherri Million (husband, Ray), Mary Gowen, and Christina Henson (husband, Eddie); twelve grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; siblings: Linda Webb, Pat Steinmetz and Bruce Hedrick, Margie DeClue (husband, Raymond), Vernon Gowen, Jeanie Beard (husband, Jim), Sharon Johns (husband, Clarence), Danny Gowen, and Randy Gowen (wife, Priscillia) He was also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
William was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Gowen, who passed away on January 26, 2022; two twin great grandsons: Lucas and Eli.
William was owner and operator of WM Gowen Logging. He enjoyed the outdoors, going camping and fishing. He loved his family with all his heart.
A Visitation for William will be Friday, July 22, 2022, from 5 to 8 pm at DeClue Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Saturday, July 23, 2022, from 9 to 10 am.
A Funeral Service will be conducted on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at 10 am, officiated by Pastor Bob Thurman. Interment will follow at Hopewell Cemetery.
