William Eldan Marler, affectionately known as Bill, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on April 14, 1933, in Belgrade, Missouri, Bill lived a life marked by dedication, hard work, and a profound love for his family.
Bill devoted his career to the forestry industry, primarily working as a logger. His work reflected his deep connection to nature, which was further demonstrated by his passion for the woods and commitment to doing things the old-fashioned way. Beyond his professional endeavors, Bill was also a skilled blacksmith, showcasing his craftsmanship and appreciation for traditional skills.
His service in the army exemplified his commitment to his country, and he carried the values learned during this time throughout his life. Bill was a man of many interests, who cherished the simple pleasures of camping and the great outdoors.
Throughout his life, Bill's greatest love was reserved for his wife, Mary Lou Marler. He deeply appreciated her unwavering support and care, which was a cornerstone of their enduring partnership.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Mary Lou; his son, Chat Marler; and a proud lineage that includes grandchildren Zach Marler (wife, Cami), Caleb Marler, Samantha Tedford (husband, Richard), Tyler Cox, and Ashton Cox. He also embraced his role as a great-grandfather to Liam and Evelyn Tedford. Bill's family was further enriched by his siblings, Donnie Marler (wife, Wanda), Faye Portell, and Leta Skiles, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will carry his memory forward.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Francis (Wade) Marler; his children, Kim Cox and Jake Marler Sr.; grandson, Jake Marler Jr.; infant sister Georgia; siblings: Bobby Marler, Chatman Marler, and Dorris Vick.
Bill's life was a testament to the values of hard work, love, and family. He will be dearly remembered and deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
There will be no formal services held. Funeral arrangements were entrusted in the care and direction of DeClue Funeral Home.
