William Collins

July 30, 1925 — May 8, 2007

William Thomas Bill? Collins of Mineral Point, Missouri departed this life on May 8, 2007 at his residence, having reached the age of 81 years, 9 months and 8 days. He was born at Danville, Iowa on July 30, 1925, a son of the late Bate Collins and Dorothy Trainer Collins.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a step-son, Roger Arteberry and a granddaughter, Autumn Collins.

He was united in marriage to Rose Amanda Politte on February 1, 1978 at Mineral Point, Missouri. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved watching a good game of football and he loved horses, but most of all he loved his family and spending time with them, especially the grandchildren. He was a long time member of the VFW having served his Country in the Navy during WWII.

Those who remain to mourn the passing of his life include his wife, Rose Collins of Mineral Point; his children, Terry Collins of California, Thomas Collins and wife Brenda of Mineral Point, Charles Collins of Mineral Point, Cindy Walls and husband Harold of Rolla, Dorothy Cain and husband James of Mineral Point, Jim Politte and wife Mandy of Hopewell, Johnny Politte of Mineral Point, Ruth Ann Politte of Hopewell; two sisters, Juanita Gavler and Debra Collins both of Iowa; twenty-one grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, May 10, 2007 at 2 PM at the Britton Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Rev. Jim Wade and Rev. Joe Gensler officiating. The Potosi VFW #6996 held a Veteran?s Memorial Service on Wednesday, May 8, 2007 at 7 PM honoring him. Serving as pallbearers were Tom Collins, Rick Broeker, Cody Hurt, Chris Cantrell, William Politte and Bobby Marler.

Interment and final prayers were held at Hopewell Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
