Wendell Allen

September 7, 1940 — April 29, 2013

Wendell Lewis Allen of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on April 29, 2013 at the Mercy Hospital having reached the age of seventy two years, seven months and twenty two days. He was born on September 7, 1940 in Eye, Missouri a son to the late Russell Allen and Evelyn (Belfield) Allen.

In addition to his parents, Wendell was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children Ruby (Evans) Allen.

Wendell was baptized and joined the Mission Ridge Baptist Church on April 4, 1954. There he was a faithful member until marrying Judy and moving his membership to the First Baptist Church of Belleview, where he was a member at the time of his death.

After graduation, he went to work at Brown Shoe Factory. On November 25, 1959, Wendell married Ruby Evans, a daughter of Hadley Evans and Ellen (Price) Evans.

In 1963, he went to work for the Missouri Department of Transportation. He retired in 1995 with thirty two years of service.

Wendell had a deep love for camping and this love prompted the US Forest Service to ask him to finish out the term of the ailing campground host at the Red Bluff Campground, Davisville, Missouri in 1997. In 1998 he worked for L&L as host at Council Bluff Lake and Red Bluff in 1999. In 2000 he, along with the rest of the family, formed Allen Campground Management, and ran Red Bluff Campground until 2010.

After Ruby's passing, Wendell married his long time friend Judy Boring. With Judy being Denny's mother in law, it brought much joy explaining how Denny was married to his sister and how Gina was a daughter in law/step daughter.

One mans trash is another mans treasure. Wendell always loved going to auctions and yard sales looking for antiques and that "special treasure".

On December 7, 2008, Wendell was united in marriage to Judith Boring and they shared four years together.

Those who remain to mourn his passing are his wife Judith Allen of Belleview; son Dennis Allen and wife Regina of Potosi; two daughters Kimberly Wiggins of Potosi, Beverly Bowen of Potosi; step son Danny Joe Gillam of Belleview; brother Jack Allen and wife Sharon of Potosi; special niece Denise Reed and husband Chris of Potosi; four grandchildren Carrie Wade of Potosi, Nissa Compton and husband Kyle of Potosi, Chris Bowen and special friend Nicole Distler of Potosi, Shayla Hurt and husband Cody of Desloge; seven great grandchildren Brandi, Cortnie, Kolton, Kenzie, Bryton, Raylin, Melody; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.
