Wanda Sumpter

Wanda Fay Sumpter of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on August 7, 2013 at Mercy Jefferson Hospital having reached the age of seventy four years and seventeen days. She was born on July 21, 1939 in Loughborough, Missouri a daughter to the late Arnell Sumpter and Velma (Westbrook) Sumpter.

In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by her step father James Forrester, Sr.; daughter Mary Elizabeth Nettles; two sisters Bettie Benson, Juanita Jones; three brothers Darrell Sumpter, James Forrester, Jr., Richard Jones; son in law Lee Fairchild; grandson Jared Petrizzo and a great granddaughter Alexis Forrester.

Wanda was an avid reader. Some of her favorite pastimes were bingo, casinos, Disney, mensa tests, jigsaw puzzles, crocheting and bossing her children around.

Those who remain to mourn her passing are the father of her children Joseph Nettles, Sr. of Potosi; son Joseph Nettles, Jr. and wife Linda of Steelville; six daughters Vanessa Pidcock of Potosi, Brenda Fairchild of Potosi, Valerie Rowe and husband Lewis of Arkansas, Jane Neal and partner B.J. of Arkansas, Heather Dean and husband Bill of Valley Park, Sue Wittke and husband Billy of Valley Park; dachschund Dog Roxy; twenty two grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 11 AM at the DeClue Chapel with Pastor Steve Aubuchon officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Justin Neal, Joseph Nettles, III, Alex Wittke, Kyle Valentine, Joshua Fairchild, Joseph Petrizzo, III and Johnathan Petrizzo. Honorary pallbearers were Ian Fairchild, Robert Rowe, Jaden Rowe, and Collin Dean.

Interment and final prayers were held at the Hopewell Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
