Virginia Thurman

Virginia Lorine Thurman of Mineral Point, Missouri departed this life March 6, 2010 at her residence having reached the age of seventy seven years, six months and six days. She was born on August 29, 1932 at Bonne Terre, Missouri a daughter to the late Thomas Dodson and Katie (Lore) Dodson.

On October 24, 1948, Virginia was united in marriage to Rev. Elroy Thurman. Elroy preceded Virginia on November 29, 1996.

Virginia was a member of the Covenant Grace Church of God.

In addition to her parents and husband Virginia was preceded in death by four brothers Tom Dodson, Billy Dodson, Bob Dodson, Curt Dodson; two sisters Alleen Politte, Gladys Jewel; grandson Derrick Thurman and three great grandchildren.

Those who remain to mourn her passing are three sons Elroy Thurman, Jr. and wife Carla of Lee Summit; Jimmy Thurman and wife Connie of Mineral Point; Robert Thurman and wife Ginger of Mineral Point; two daughters Donna Hedrick and husband Gary of Lee Summit; Brenda Davis of Mineral Point; two brothers Leon Dodson and wife Joyce of Hopewell; Charles Dodson of Potosi; two sisters Dorothy O?Neail of Potosi; Alberta Lamkey of Potosi; twenty two grandchildren; thirty four great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral services were conducted on Monday, March 8, 2010 at 1 PM at the Covenant Grace Church of God, Springtown with Rev. Bob Thurman and Rev. Elroy Thurman, Jr. officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Jimmy Thurman, II, Heath Thurman, Michael Hedrick, Lance Davis, Jeff Hasty, Eric Skaggs and Kevin Wisdom.

Interment and final prayers were held at Hopewell Cemetery, Mineral Point. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
