Virginia Lucas

July 9, 1915 — August 4, 2007

Virginia Gillespie Lucas of Raymore, Missouri passed away on August 4, 2007 at Foxwood Springs Care Center, Raymore, Missouri.

A Registered Nurse, she served in the Army Nurse Corps from 1944 until 1965 when she retired with the rank of Major. Her tours of duty took her to France and Germany during World War II, Korea and Japan and back to Germany from 1956 to 1958. She also served in several stateside military hospitals from coast to coast, including Alaska. She and her husband retired to Branson, Missouri where she taught weaving for a number of years at the College of the Ozarks. She was a life member of the Retired Officers Association, Daughters of the American Revolution and the American Legion.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph W. Lucas; her parents and three siblings.

Graveside services were held on Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at Bellevue Presbyterian Cemetery, Caledonia, Missouri with Rev. Leonard Compton officiating.
