Virgil Gibson

Virgil Clifton Gibson Jr. of Cadet, Missouri entered into rest on Monday, February 2, 2015 at Mercy Hospital in Festus, Missouri having reached the age of seventy seven years, ten months and five days. He was born on March 28, 1937 in Hopewell, Missouri a son to the late Virgil Clifton Gibson Sr. and Maudie May (Ramsey) Gibson.

On January 26, 1957, Virgil was united in marriage to Bonnie Portell in Old Mines, Missouri and they shared fifty eight years together.

Virgil is survived by his beloved wife Bonnie Gibson of Cadet, MO.; two daughters Vickie Emily and husband Jeff of Cadet, MO.; Cheyrl Boyer and husband Mike of Cadet, MO.; three brothers Jimmy Gibson of Mineral Point, MO.; Herbert Eugene Gibson and wife Nancy of Mineral Point, MO.; Jesse Gibson and wife Marsha of Mineral Point, MO.; sister Mary Boyer and husband Robert of Cadet, MO.; three Grandchildren Jennifer Saunders and husband Ryan; Cory Emily and wife Heather; Kayla Granger and husband Adam; ten great grandchildren Dillon, Lane, Owen, Joleen, Cory Jr., Blake, Dayton, Devon, Nevaeh, Kolton, and one on his/her way; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Lynn Portell and wife JoAnn; Danny Portell; Gary Portell and wife Janet; Glenda Kay Harmon; Nona Thebeau and husband Rev. Lynn; Debbie Holt; Peggy Turnbough and husband Rev. Mark; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Virgil also leaves behind his pet bird Choo Choo and cat Tom Tom.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother Ronald Gibson and one sister Ruby Gibson.

Visitation was held on Thursday, February 5, 2015 from 4:30 till 8:00 PM at the DeClue Funeral Home 301 East High Street Potosi, Missouri 63664.

Funeral services were on Friday, February 6, 2015 at 11: 00 AM at the DeClue Memorial Chapel with Pastor Lynn Thebeau officiating.

Honoring Virgil by serving as pallbearers were Cory Emily, Ryan Saunders, Adam Granger, Lane Saunders, Dillon Saunders, Cory Emily Jr., Devon Evans and Dayton Evans. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers were Owen Saunders, Blake Emily, Joleen Saunders, Nevaeh Granger and Kolton Granger.

Interment and final prayers will be held at the Sunset Hill Cemetery, Potosi, Missouri.

Funeral arrangements were respectfully cared for by the DeClue Funeral Home.
