Virgil Carl Miner

Virgil Carl Miner of Potosi, Missouri, was born on May 21, 1938 in Mineral Point, Missouri, a son to the late Virgil Hadley Miner and the late Lydia Mae (Mason) Miner. Carl passed away on his farm, Wednesday, November 16, 2016 having reached the age of seventy eight years, five months and twenty six days.

On January 9, 1965, Carl was united in marriage to Carol Joan Benson and they shared forty six years together.

Carl was a loving husband, Dad, Grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Some of his favorite pastimes were working on his farm, taking care of the livestock, putting up hay, and going to auctions. He also enjoyed sitting on the porch listening to song birds and watching the sunset. He loved hunting and enjoyed spending time with everyone.

Carl was the kind of man who always put others before himself. No one ever had a bad word to say about him. Everyone who knew Carl loved him and his smart-aleck sense of humor.

Carl is survived by his six children: Robin Huerta of Potosi, Lisa Aubuchon and husband Ed of Cadet, Becky McMahan and husband Danny of Potosi, Jennifer Harmon and husband Richard of Potosi, Adam Miner and wife Stacy of Potosi and Kevin Miner and wife Britney of Potosi; seven siblings: Verna Mae Welker and husband Carl of Steelville, Wilma Arkulari of Steelville, Clarence Miner and wife Linda of Cadet, Julie Merseal and husband Ken of DeSoto, Cora Boyer and husband Bernard of DeSoto, Leonard Miner and wife Margie of Mineral Point and Brenda Eaves and husband Gary of Chesterfield; nineteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren; also surviving are nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Carl is preceded in death by his loving wife, Carol Miner; beloved daughter, Shelly Miner; son-in-law, Darrell Doss and nephew, Michael Miner.

Carl served in the United States Army from August 23, 1961 until August 22, 1963.

Visitation will be held Sunday, November 20, 2016 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Monday, November 21, 2016 from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the DeClue Funeral Home, 301 East High Street, Potosi, MO. 63664.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 21, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the DeClue Memorial Chapel with Pastor Dwight Petete officiating.

Interment and final prayers will be held at the Miner Family Cemetery where Carl will receive full military honors consisting of gun salute, TAPS and flag folding and presentation. DeClue Funeral Home was privileged to care for the funeral arrangements of Carl during this time of remembrance.
