Virgie M. Smalley of Mineral Point, Missouri passed away on March 7, 2016 at the Georgian Gardens Nursing Home having reached the age of ninety three years, three months, and three days. She was born on December 4, 1922, in Butts, Missouri, a daughter to the late James Lonard and Zoie Ethel (Harmon) Harvey. On October 12, 1940, Virgie was united in marriage to her late husband Victor Allen Smalley.
Virgie is survived by her three children: Victor Wayne Smalley and wife Carol of Cedar Hill, Sharon Cooley of Mineral Point, and Richard Smalley and wife Darlene of Barnhart; brother: Marvin Harvey of Potosi; sister: Marita Dicus of Mineral Point; sister-in-law: Verla Harvey of Potosi; eight grandchildren: Ronald Cooley Jr. and wife Daphne of Marshall, Sheryl Patterson and husband Dean of Festus, Jeffery Cooley and wife Christina of Potosi, Amber Hutsler and husband Pat of Imperial, Kimberly Smalley and Kyle Owens of Raymond, Illinois, Richard R. Smalley and Nikki Moonier of Cedar Hill, Michael Smalley and wife Shelley of St. Paul, and Lisa Bowers and Craig of Fenton; great grandchildren: Nikki Cooley, Connor Cooley, Deanna Miersch and husband Daniel, Nicholas Patterson, Matthew Patterson, Mikayla Patterson, Brianna East and husband Daniel, Ashley Kirby, Austin Cooley, Kayla Smalley, Jenna Smalley, Alyssa Bowers, Natasha Smalley, Rylan Davis, Cameron Hutsler, Kayleigh Hutsler, Liam Smalley, and Colton Owens; also surviving are many great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her beloved husband: Victor Smalley; Virgie is preceded in death by her brother Clinton Harvey; sister-in-law: Freeda Harvey; brother-in-law: Robert Dicus; and son-in-law: Ronald Cooley, Sr.
Visitation was held Saturday, March 12, 2016 at the DeClue Funeral Home from 4:30 PM until 8:00 PM.
A funeral service was conducted Sunday, March 13, 2016 at 2:00 PM, at the DeClue Memorial Chapel with Rev. Guy Conway officiating.
Interment and final prayers will be held at the Lost Creek Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were respectfully entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Funeral Home.
