Violet Vandergriff

Violet Alberta Vandergriff of Cadet, Missouri departed this life on October 3, 2011 at Parkland Health Center having reached the age of eighty eight years and sixteen days. She was born on September 17, 1923 at Iron County, Missouri a daughter to the late Albert Hedrick and Bertha (Barton) Hedrick.

In addition to her parents, Violet was preceded in death by her husband Earl Vandergriff; son Virgil Vandergriff; daughter Shirley Vandergriff; grandson Brian Vandergriff; son in law Earl Lee; four brothers Esco Hedrick, Claude Hedrick, Earl Hedrick, Buford Hedrick; two sisters Ruby Courtois and Goldie McGilvany.

Those who remain to mourn her passing are daughter Vivian "Jeri" Lee of Fredericktown; two sons Mike (Lana) Vandergriff of Cadet; Larry (Phyllis) Vandergriff of Irondale; daughter in law Judy Vandergriff; brother Danny Hedrick of Desloge; eight grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at 11 AM at the DeClue Chapel with Rev. Jamie Haguewood officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Kevin Lurkins, David Vandergriff, Bill Lee, Matthew Lurkins, Jeremy Pratte and Vernon Marler.

Interment and final prayers were held at Sunset Hill Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
