Victor Eckhoff

Victor James Eckhoff of Cadet, Missouri departed this life on August 14, 2012 at his residence having reached the age of seventy years, eleven months and fourteen days. He was born on August 31, 1941 in Cadet, Missouri a son to the late Joseph Eckhoff and Latty (Jolly) Eckhoff.

In addition to his parents, Vic was preceded in death by three brothers Melvin "Dogy" Eckhoff; Raymond "Cat" Eckhoff; Oliver Eckhoff; three sisters Lois "Tootsi" Head; Iona "EE" Johnson and Audrey "Dutchy" Elsey.

On November 11, 1967, Vic was united in marriage to Carol Akers and they shared almost forty five years together.

Vic entered the in the United States Navy in April of 1977 until he retired in May of 1993. After retirement Vic worked for L&C Trucking in St. Louis, Missouri as a mechanic. Which inspired him to start his own trucking company called Eckhoff Trucking. Although Vic worked hard he always made time for his family. Every year he looked forward to taking his grandchildren to the county fair. It made him happy just to see them smile. He also loved taking them to horse sales. He was an avid gardener and held the title of the "family cook." Vic was an excellent cook and he learned how to prepare meals while he was in the Navy.

Those who remain to mourn his passing are his wife Carol Eckhoff of Cadet; two daughters Sherri (Rick) Govero of Tiff; Jamie (Clayton) Miner of Potosi; son Rodney Eckhoff of Indiana; four grandchildren Derek Govero, Lindsay Govero, Blake Miner, Hope Miner; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at 1 PM at the DeClue Chapel with Elder Leonard Compton officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Rick Govro, Clayton Miner, Derek Govero, Ethan Govero, Snoopy Eckhoff, and Jeff "Mo" Halbert .

Interment and final prayers were held at the Caledonia Methodist Cemetery. Full military honors was presented by United States Navy and the Local VFW Post #6996. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
