Vernon Skaggs

Vernon Skaggs of Bismarck, Missouri departed this life on October 6, 2006 at his residence, having reached the age of 68 years, 3 months and 26 days. He was born at Cadet, Missouri on June 10, 1938, a son to the late Samuel F. Skaggs, Sr. and Genevie G. Nickelson.

He was united in marriage to Virginia McMahan on May 24, 1957 at Tupelo, Mississippi, and to that union five children were born. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a dear brother, uncle, cousin and friend.

In addition to his parents, Vernon was preceded in death by a brother, Samuel Skaggs, Jr.

Those who remain to mourn the passing of his life are his wife, Virginia Skaggs; four daughters, Rhonda Jaster and husband Dennis of Park Hills, Joy Perkins and husband Grey of Bismarck, Angie NeSmith of Atlanta, GA, Ginger Ouellette of Lakeland, FL; a son Shawn Skaggs and wife Amy of Lakeland, FL; five brothers, Jimmie Skaggs of Potosi, Bobby Skaggs of Lakeland, FL, Rastus (Pat) Skaggs and wife Kathy of Doe Run, Ronald Skaggs and wife Shirley of Potosi, Dennis Skaggs and wife Donna of Park Hills; one sister, Sue Aubuchon and husband Jim of Cadet; twelve grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren; three special nieces, Trisha King, Cindie Young and Kandi Fletcher; two special brothers in-law Lynn Stroup and Bobby McMahan; nieces, nephews; cousins and many other family and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services were conducted on Monday, October 9, 2006 at 10 AM at the Britton Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Rev. Lynn Stroup officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Leroy Jaster, Derrick Perkins, Chris Perkins, Trey NeSmith, Josh Ouellette, Trevor Skaggs, Joshua Vinson and Denver King.

Interment and final prayers were held at Sunset Hill Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
