Verna Marie Crocker of Mineral Point, Missouri passed away on October 26, 2015 having reached the age of seventy four years, three months, and twenty four days. She was born on July 1, 1941 in Cadet, Missouri, a daughter to the late Luther William and Rose Ellen (Barton) Hamby.
Verna was united in marriage to Carl Crocker on December 31, 1977 in Clayton, Missouri and together they shared nearly 38 years of marriage.
Verna is survived by her beloved husband, Carl Crocker of Mineral Point; son Matthew Crocker and wife Crystal of Herculaneum; three brothers: Bobby Hamby, Sr., Paul “Pete” Hamby, and Kenneth Hamby and wife Kay – all of Cadet; five sisters: Dorothy Mosier of Potosi, Beulah DeClue of Mineral Point, Mary Christopher of Mineral Point, Annetta Drake of Kansas City, and Kathy Jarvis and husband Jim of Mineral Point; three grandchildren: Brianna Crocker, Allison Crocker, and Dylan Crocker; two great-grandchildren: Karson John and Camden Matthew; brothers and sisters-in-law: Lena Hamby, Lucy Hamby, Carlene and John Mount, Lou Ellen and Jerry McKnight, Shirley and Eddie Black, Lea and Jamie Petty, and David and Vickie Crocker; special aunt Evie Asher; uncle Reldon Crocker; and special friends: Georgia Smith and daughter Avery.
In addition to her parents, Verna is preceded in death by her son Dewayne Everette Henderson; brothers: Luther, Vernon, Walter, Ronnie, Orville, and Dannie Hamby; sisters: Norma Jean Hamby, Loretta Brewer, and Velma May Belle Hamby; brothers and sisters-in-law: Cleo Hamby, Leslie Hamby, Dorothy Lee Hamby, Joyce Frizelle, David Mosier, Oliver DeClue, and Dustin “Corckey” Christopher.
Visitation for Verna was held on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at the DeClue Funeral Home from 4:30 PM until 8:00 PM and Thursday, October 29, 2015, beginning at 9:00 AM until the time of service.
A funeral service for Verna was held at the DeClue Memorial Chapel on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 11:00 AM.
Honoring Verna by serving as her pallbearers will be David Lynn Jarvis, Chris Clapp, Robert Bush, Kenny Hamby, Bobby Hamby, Jr., and Luther Hamby, Jr.
Internment and final prayers will be held at the Rose Memorial Gardens Cemetery. All funeral arrangements have been cared for by the DeClue Funeral Home.
