Verle William Alvey Sr.

October 11, 1950 — January 23, 2025

Verle William Alvey Sr., born on October 11, 1950, in Akron, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, January 23, 2025, surrounded by his family. He left behind a legacy of love, music, and devotion that will be forever cherished.

Verle dedicated thirty years of his professional life to the maintenance department at Pattonville High, where he was known for his hard work and commitment before retiring in 2008. He also contributed to Live Nation, serving in the security department. His work ethic and dedication left a lasting impact on both his colleagues and community.

The love story between Verle and his wife, Donna, began in high school. After four years of dating, they were united in marriage on September 11, 1972, at St. Louis City Hall. Their bond was shaped by shared experiences and mutual respect. Verle was not just a husband but the greatest source of strength and support for Donna, who lovingly described him as the love of her life.

Verle will be remembered by his wife, Donna (Wood) Alvey; three sons: Paul Alvey and Laura, Verle Alvey II (wife, Beth), and Theodore Thomas Alvey. His legacy continues through his seven grandchildren: Alexander Alvey, Kyle Alvey, Becky Alvey, Ariela Lara, Tryston Alvey, Lucas Lara, and Riley Alvey. Each grandchild held a special place in his heart, and he took great joy in being a devoted grandfather. Verle is also survived by his two siblings, Neil Alvey and Donna Alvey; sisters-in-law, Patricia Gail Thebeau and Mary Susan Thebeau; special nieces, Carolyn, Angela, and Trudy; as well as many cousins and extended family members who loved him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Theodore Robert Alvey and Maria Delores (Garcia) Alvey, his brother, Theodore Alvey, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Thomas and Lucille Wood, along with many other dear relatives.

A passionate musician, Verle was a talented drummer who played a variety of music professionally before accepting Jesus as his Lord and Savior. This pivotal moment guided him to embrace his guitar, lead worship services, and become a devoted songwriter. His songs, such as "Save Me" and "Perfect Peace," reflected his faith and love for Christ and music. Verle's interests extended beyond music; he also enjoyed fishing and shooting guns, activities that brought him joy.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a time of visitation on Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 12:00 PM until the time of his memorial service at 2:00 PM held  at Harvest Christian Centre, located at 1925 State Highway 32, Park Hills, MO 63601. Bro. Sam Alli will be officiating.
