Thurman Hochstatter of Mineral Point, Missouri departed this life on August 9, 2006 at the Washington County Memorial Hospital, having reached the age of 92 years, 11 months and 17 days. He was born on August 23, 1913 at Potosi, Missouri, a son of the late John Hochstatter and Mattie (Woolford) Hochstatter.
Thurman was united in marriage to Rose Mary Skiles on May 17, 1936 at Potosi and three children were born to this union. Rose Mary Preceded him in death on October 26, 2003, having enjoyed over 67 years of marriage. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. Thurman worked as a machinist for Scott?s Welding & Machine Shop, Reed?s Lumber and Purcell Tire and was known throughout the area for his ability to design and build things, when no one else could.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son Bob Hochstatter, five brothers Ed, Earl, John, Henry and Marvin Hochstatter and his sister Edna Kammerer.
Those who remain to mourn his passing include his son, John Hochstatter and wife Helen of Mineral Point; his daughter, Alice Hochstatter Kwan and husband Vic of Mineral Point; daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Hochstatter of Potosi; eight grandchildren, Jeff Hochstatter and wife Debbie, Clarissa Rackovan and husband Joey, Maegan King and husband Brock, Bobbie Heifner and husband David, Amy Shepard and husband Joe, Sheree Williams and husband Michael, Tracy Dunn and Desiree Crocker; eleven great grand children, Holli Hochstatter, J.T. Hochstatter, Kyle Heifner, Kody Heifner, Adam Shepard, Dakota Shepard, Stephanie Shepard, Carter Shepard, Jessie Friskney, Lindsey Pryse and Jayleigh Paige King; one great great granddaughter, Stella Rose Friskney; nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services were conducted at 3 PM on Friday, August 11, 2006 at the Britton Chapel with Father John Schneider officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Jeff Hochstatter, Joe Shepard, David Heifner, Mike Williams, Lynn Coleman and Kyle Heifner.
Interment and final prayers were held at the Hopewell Cemetery, with all arrangements entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
