Thomas Remley

January 15, 1942 — November 3, 2022

Thomas Paul Remley of Potosi, Missouri, was born on January 15, 1942 in Charleston, South Carolina, a son of the late Glen Thomas Remley and the late Thelma (Iler) Remley. Thomas went to his Heavenly Home on Thursday, November 3, 2022 at the age of 80. On February 14, 2001, Thomas was united in marriage to Ruthie Skiles and they shared 21 years of love and life together.

Those who remain to treasure his memory include: his wife, Ruthie Skiles-Remley; son, Justin Ross (partner, Joe); daughter, Jeannie Wisdom (husband, Joe); grandson, Jonathan Wisdom; granddaughter, Victoria Wisdom; sisters: Wilma Priestler and Ann Wright; church family and dear friends. In addition to his father and mother, Thomas was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra; and brother, Billy.

Thomas proudly served in the United States Army from November 21, 1960 to March 4, 1980. While in the service, Thomas served as a Helicopter Pilot during Vietnam. Thomas received the following awards: National Defense Service Medal, Basic Aircraft Crewman Badge, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal and many other badges and bars. He was very patriotic.

Some of Thomas' favorite times were going for drives with Ruthie and listening to worship music, telling stories about his military adventures and spending time with his family. Thomas liked working around his home, his yard, and in his shop. He enjoyed being outdoors. Thomas graduated from Embry Aeronautical University, obtaining a degree as a Rocket Technician. Thomas worked and retired from General Dynamics in Cape Canaveral, Florida. Thomas was a faithful member of White oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He loved his church family. Thomas wanted to make sure everyone he came in contact with knew the Lord. Thomas will be greatly missed by his family and his kitten, Buddy.

Visitation will be held Sunday, November 6, 2022 from 5 to 8 PM and Monday, November 7th from 9 AM until the time of his funeral service at 11 AM held in the DeClue Memorial Chapel. Pastor Scott Welty will officiate. Thomas will receive full military honors presented by the US Army and local VFW Post 6996. Funeral arrangements were respectfully cared for by DeClue Funeral Home.
