Thomas Buford Evans of Potosi, Missouri, departed this life on December 24, 2005 at the Washington County Memorial Hospital , having reached the age of 83 years, 3 months and 25 days. He was born on August 30, 1922 at Potosi, Missouri, a son of the late Caleb David Evans and Nora Margaret (Roussin) Evans.
Tom was united in marriage to Helen ?Renie? Studdard on November 20, 1947 and she preceded him in death on February 5, 2002. He was a loving and devoted husband and father, a dear brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He served his Country during World War II as a Heavy Mortar Crewman. He served in the areas of Ardeenes, Central Europe, Rhineland, Rome Arno, North Africa, Southern France, Sicily and Naples. He was awarded seven Bronze Stars for the above campaigns along with the Bronze Star Medal with the Arrow Head.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Evans, a sister, Margaret Jane Evans, a half-brother, James Collins and a brother-in-law, Harry Puckett.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are his daughter, Mary Jane Evans and husband Jerry of Naperville, Illinois; a grandson, Michael Evans of Chicago, Illinois; a grand daughter, Megan Evans of Seattle, Washington; a sister, Mary Alice Puckett of Potosi; nieces; nephews and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 PM on Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at the Britton Chapel with Rev. Leonard Compton officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Randy McMahan, Jake McMahan, Everett Huff, Jack Walls, Bill Warren, John Huff, Matt Riddle and David Puckett.
Interment and final prayers were held in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
