Theodore Allen

November 23, 1912 — July 28, 2011

Theodore Ralph Allen, Sr. of Hillsboro, Missouri departed this life on July 28, 2011 at the Crystal Oaks Assisted Living Facility having reached the age of ninety eight years, eight months and five days. He was born on November 23, 1912 at Potosi, Missouri a son to the late Benjamin Allen and Effie Mae (Huitt) Allen.

Ralph was married on June 20, 1943 in Potosi, Missouri to the late Pauline M. (Compton) Allen and one child was born of this union: Theodore R. Allen, Jr.

He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Festus, Missouri and formerly long-time member of First Baptist Church, Hillsboro, Missouri.

He was a retired machinist from McDonnell Aircraft Company. After retiring, Ralph’s hobbies were golf and bowling. He played golf often at Cottonwood and bowled on a senior team at Quonset Lanes. He stopped playing golf when he was ninety two years old. He helped the First Baptist Church of Hillsboro supervise the church bus of kids as they rode to and from church service. He also spent a few years volunteering with the Meals on Wheels program and delivering meals to the elderly.

When Ted was a kid, his dad helped out with Cub Scouts and Little League. Ralph was a family man who frequently enjoyed visiting with friends and family. He was a great father, father in law, papa, uncle, cousin, brother and friend who was loved by many.

Ralph was dependable, steadfast and what you saw was what you got.

In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his wife Pauline Allen, three brothers Kenneth Allen, Russell Allen, Benjamin Allen; two sisters Blanche Jarvis and Mae Burbank.

Those who remain to mourn his passing are a son Theodore “Ted” Allen, Jr. and wife Rebecca of Webster Groves; one granddaughter Madeline Allen of Webster Groves, one sister Margaret Trokey of Fulton; sister in law Viola Allen of Hillsboro, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services were conducted on Monday, August 1, 2011 at 11 AM at the DeClue Chapel with Rev. Mike Goodwin officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Denny Allen, John Pratt, Mark Wilson, Dan Trokey, Jack Allen, Tracy James and Scott Wilson.

Interment and final prayers were held at Caledonia Methodist Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
