Steve Welker

Steve Welker of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on July 21, 2007 at Potosi Manor Nursing Home, having reached the age of 94 years, 3 months and 15 days. He was born on April 6, 1913 at Potosi, Missouri, a son of the late Richard Welker and Mattie (Gilliam) Welker.

He was united in marriage to Flossie Golden White Welker who preceded him in death on March 3, 2003. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Lisa Dawn Welker and Larry Dale Welker; five brothers, Lawrence Welker, George Welker, Jim Welker, Dewey Welker and Merlin Welker; two sisters, Gladys Hedgecorth and Gladys Cruse; a son-in-law, Marvin Yount and a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Welker.

Those who remain to mourn the passing of his life include his children, Carl Welker and wife Verna May of Steelville, Dale Welker of Potosi, Max Welker and wife Fern of West Plains and Maebell Yount of Cedar Hill; twenty three grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; forty-six great-grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; fifteen great-great-grandchildren; one step great-great-grandchild; nieces; nephews; cousins and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 AM on Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at the Britton Chapel, Potosi, MO with Rev. Wendell Nipper and Rev. Amos Griggs officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Tim Carey, Stan Welker, Steve Yount, Paul Yount, Joseph Yount and Willard Welker.

Interment and final prayers were held at the Lost Creek Cemetery, Potosi, Missouri. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
