Shirley Jean Volner of Potosi, Missouri was born on April 2, 1940 in Palmer, Missouri a daughter to the late Clyde Brakefield and the late Ruth (Beers) Brakefield. Shirley entered eternal rest on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at the Baisch Nursing Center having reached the age of seventy-seven years five months and twelve days.
Shirley will be missed by all those who knew and loved her including her three children: Kathy Cassidy and husband Brandon of Hillsboro; Bruce Volner and wife Laura of Cadet; Julie Hampton and husband Bill of Festus; three sisters: Betty Briley and husband Jim of Wortham; Judy Green of Terre Du Lac; Cindy Robinson and husband Steve of Potosi; three brothers: Cecil Brakefield and wife Sue of Potosi; Noel Brakefield and wife Glenda of Potosi; Raymond Brakefield of Belgrade; five grandchildren: Eric Ray, Kristen Ray, Ryan Volner, Brock Hampton, Luke Hampton; three step grandchildren: Ethan Jones, Daniel Jones and Olivia Cassidy; father of her children, Billy Joe Volner; also surviving are great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by one grandson, Andrew Volner.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 16, 2017 from 4:30-8:00 p.m. and Sunday, September 17, 2017 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the DeClue Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 2:00 pm held at the DeClue Memorial Chapel with Pastor Bobby Upchurch officiating.
Interment and final prayers will be held at the Redbud Memorial Gardens Cemetery. DeClue Funeral Home was privileged to care for the services and arrangements for Shirley during this time of remembrance.
