Shirley Akers

July 10, 1923 — April 23, 2013

Shirley Mae Akers of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on April 23, 2013 at the Potosi Manor Nursing Home having reached the age of eighty nine years, nine months and thirteen days. She was born on July 10, 1923 in Seattle, Washington a daughter to the late Lee Clemmings and Vera (Lester) Clemmings.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her first husband Harry Mosey, late husband William "Bill" Akers, sister Toni Cunningham and a son in law Douglas Morgan.

Those who remain to mourn her passing are three daughters Janice Morgan of Potosi, Linda Ayres and husband John of Potosi, Carol Litton and husband Joe of Potosi; one son Jimmy Mosey of Potosi; sister Donna Sanford and husband Bub of Longview, Texas; four sisters in law Anne Belle Patterson of Mineral Point, Maime Lee Wigger of Potosi, Dorothy Andrews of St. Louis, Anna Belle Akers of Englewood, Colorado; six grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at 11 AM at the DeClue Chapel with Rev. Carl Wilson and Matt Johnson officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Joe Litton, Jr., Steven Litton, Tim Litton, Todd Strange, Matt Johnson and Gale Pulliam.

Interment and final prayers were held at Sunset Hills Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
