Sarah Skaggs

Sarah May Skaggs of Mineral Point, Missouri departed this life on April 19, 2013 at her residence having reached the age of ninety years, four months and twelve days. She was born on December 7, 1922 in Weingarten, Missouri a daughter to the late Rolla Summers and Katie (O'Harven) Summers.

In addition to her parents, Sarah was preceded in death by her husband William Skaggs; two daughters Mary Lou Skaggs, Alma Drennen; two sisters Nellie Marie Jones, Florence Lorene Jones and a brother Andrew Summers.

Those who remain to mourn her passing are two sons Samuel David Skaggs and wife Rosie of Mineral Point, Donald Wayne Skaggs of Mineral Point; four daughters Florence "Flossie" Cain and husband Daniel of Mineral Point, Iva Kemper of Mineral Point, Nancy Hastings and husband Roger of Old Mines, Loretta DeClue and husband Dale of Old Mines; two brothers Rolla Robert Summers of Illinois, Andrew Summers of St. Louis; nineteen grandchildren; approximately one hundred twenty six great & great great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at 2 PM at the DeClue Chapel with Rev. Lary Walburn officiating. Serving as pallbearetts were Sarah Skaggs, Donita Haynes, Lindia Skaggs, Virginia Skaggs, Debbie Hastings, Joy DeClue, Iva Casner, Vickie Woolie and Heather Drennen. Honorary pallbearetts Dalcey DeClue, Nicole Skaggs and Patty Grey.

Interment and final prayers were held at the New Diggins Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
