Russell Owens

July 9, 1939 — February 20, 2012

Russell Roland Owens of Wellsville, Missouri departed this life on February 20, 2012 at the Audrain Medical Center having reached the age of seventy two years, seven months and eleven days. He was born on July 9, 1939 at Shirley, Missouri a son to the late John T. Owens and Nellie Mae (Cain) Owens.

On December 25, 1988, Russell was united in marriage to Shirley Zumwalt and they shared twenty three years together.

In addition to his parents, Russell was preceded in death by nineteen siblings and a step-granddaughter Terry Ann Ripka.

Those who remain to mourn his passing are his wife Shirley Owens of Wellsville, MO; three daughters Felecia (Terry) Ripka of Desoto; Patricia (Dean) Branstetter of Lake Zurich, IL; Julie Owens of Desoto; two sons John (Christina) Owens of Desoto; Russell "Sonny" Owens of Wellsville; step son Curtis Zumwalt of Winfield, MO; brother Charlie (Janet) Owens of Mineral Point; fourteen grandchildren; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services were conducted on Friday, February 24, 2012 at 2 PM at the DeClue Chapel with Elder Leonard Compton officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Julie Owens, Sabrina Drennen, Patty Branstetter, John Owens, Katrina, Robert Owens, Rick Keeney, Johnathon Owens, Joshua Owens and John Thomas Owens.

Interment and final prayers were held at the Lost Creek Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
