Ruby Eye

Ruby Virginia Eye of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on July 4, 2006 at Washington County Memorial Hospital, having reached the age of 88 years, 8 months and 12 days. She was born in Shirley, Missouri on October 22, 1917, a daughter of the late Pryor Fitzwater and Florence (Northcutt) Fitzwater.

On May 2, 1936, Ruby married Herbert Eye. They were about to celebrate their sixty first year together when Herbert passed away on April 15, 1997. Ruby was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great, great grandmother. She loved her family. She was a member of White Oak Grove Baptist Church and a fifty year plus member of the Eastern Star.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ruby was preceded in death by two brothers, Virgil Fitzwater and Leo Fitzwater.

Those who remain to mourn the passing of her life include a daughter, Shelba Jean Reither of Potosi; a sister, Barbara Jean Rawson of Dexter; two grandchildren, Jeannette Hatfield and husband Steve of Potosi and Michael Coy and wife Debbie of Mountain View; five great grandchildren, Tyler Hatfield and wife Tiffany, Tina Hacker and husband Ian, Darrin Coy and wife Mary, Jason Coy and Andrea Coy; two great, great grandchildren, Gavin Hatfield and Dillon Sampson Vance; nieces; nephews; cousins and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral services were conducted on Friday, July 7, 2006 at 2 PM at the Britton Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Rev. Melvin Reed officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Eddie Jenkins, Reggie Jenkins, Mike Coy, Steve Hatfield, Tyler Hatfield and Scott Rawson
Interment and final prayers were held at New Masonic Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
