Roy Sutterfield

Roy Edward Sutterfield of Belgrade, Missouri departed this life on December 19, 2005 at the Georgian Gardens Nursing Home in Potosi, having reached the age of 81 years, 3 months and 17 days. He was born on September 2, 1924 at Bismarck, Missouri, a son of the late Samuel Sutterfield and Grace (Gibson) Sutterfield.

On March 15, 1946, he was united in marriage to Clara Mae Lands and to this union a daughter was born. They enjoyed over fifty-nine year of marriage together. Roy was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church of Belgrade. He was also a member of the Caledonia VFW Post # 4212. He was a loving and devoted husband and father. He was a member of the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1945 and was awarded 4 Bronze Service Stars for campaigns in South Philippines, Luzon, Western Pacific and New Guinea. He was a faithful servant of God and his Country.

In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by four brothers, Everett Lee Sutterfield, Leslie James Sutterfield, Sammy Eugene Sutterfield and Orville Allen Sutterfield.

Those who remain to mourn the passing of his life include his wife Clara Mae Sutterfield; his daughter, Jacqueline Kay Dean and husband Mark of Doe Run; his sister Betty Lou LyBarger of Bismarck; a grandson, Garrett Loughary; sisters-in-law, Alice, Sarah, Wilma and Alberta; nieces; nephews and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral Services were conducted at 1 PM on Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at the Britton Chapel with Rev. Harry White officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Kyle Lands, Jim Lands, Rodney Jones, Bruce Weeks, Steve Vance and Vernon Tullock.

Interment and final prayers followed in Liberty Baptist Cemetery, Belgrade. All arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
