Rosemary Elliott, 94, a lifelong resident of Potosi, Missouri, went to her Heavenly Home on Thursday evening, June 13, 2024, with her family by her bedside. She was born at her family’s homestead in Quaker, Missouri on October 4, 1929 a daughter to George Leonard Barr and Hazel Valle (Hutchings) Barr, who both preceded her in passing.
On a beautiful Spring Day, May 11, 1952, Rosemary married her love, Lee Elliott. Their union was blessed with three sons, whom she raised with unwavering love. Rosemary and Lee settled in Potosi where Lee’s family owned and operated The Elliott Towing and Car Repair business. Rosemary worked for a little over thirty years at the Washington County Assessors Office under Mr. Lee Rowe.
She was an outstanding wife and mother. Rosemary was extremely proud of her three sons. Her pride in their achievements was a source of great joy and fulfillment for her. Rosemary’s family was above all, her priority. She loved her grandchildren with all of her heart. Some of her favorite moments were spent with her family, making memories at Sunday dinners and holiday gatherings. Rosemary found her greatest happiness from the simple pleasures in life.
She had a profound faith in Jesus. Rosemary was a longtime devoted member of the Potosi Methodist Church, where she served as a church board member, Sunday School Teacher, sang in the choir, and helped with numerous occasions such as church dinners and fundraisers as well as bereavement luncheons. She was truly a kind soul and Loved her Lord and Savior.
A few more interests of Rosemary’s were that she volunteered for many years working at the local election polls and she was a member of the Red Hats society. Additionally, she spent many hours making crafts and crocheting. Some of her most popular craft items were that of Christmas décor and crocheted angels. In addition, Rosemary was also known for her famous poppyseed bread. Rosemary’s zest for life was contagious. Her beautiful smile and her warm hugs will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to treasure her memory include her three sons: Jeff (Maggie) Elliott, Mike (Tammy) Elliott, and Randy (Melanie) Elliott; her nine grandchildren: Nicholas (Pam) Elliott, Bryan Elliott, Marah (David) Null, Chris (Jennifer) Howard, Cassie (Tanner) Glore, Colbi (Cole) Mercille, Courtney (Matt) Robinson, Haley Elliott, and Morgan (Jordan) Martin; eleven great grandchildren: Carson, Makayla, Myles, Briar, Olivia, Claire, Linken, Hayes, Emmy, Kaebre, and Kade; and her sister, Bonnie (Bill) Zuck. Rosemary also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Elliott on December 24, 1999; two sisters: Glenna Mae (Frank) McClain and Ella Jo (Jerry) Sadler; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Sanford "Dick" and Mabel Elliott, as well as many other dear relatives.
In celebrating Rosemary’s life, there will be a time of visitation on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 from 5 to 8 pm at DeClue Funeral Home.
Visitation will resume at the Potosi Methodist Church on Wednesday, June 19th, from 9 am until the time of her Funeral Service at 11 am. Rev. Bob Bullock will be officiating her service. Interment and final prayers will follow at Redbud Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to the Potosi Methodist Church, 1202 Richeson Road, Potosi, MO 63664. Memorial envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.
