Rosalie Sutton

December 18, 1926 — September 4, 2011

Rosalie (Clarke) Sutton of Caledonia, Missouri born December 18, 1926 to the late Frederick Henry Clarke and Julia Belle (Jones) Clarke at Caledonia, Missouri entered eternal life on September 4, 2011 at the age of eighty four years, eight months and seventeen days.

She was united in marriage to Clyde M. Sutton on February 7, 1947. She was preceded in death by her husband and four brothers, Julius, Frederick, Richard and Robert; five sisters Charlotta Kucinskis, Ruth Lucas, Mabel Clarke, Ida Mae French and Minnie Dane.

Those who remain to mourn her passing are one son Clyde Wayne Sutton (special friend Barbara Walker) of Gillispie, IL; two daughters Lois (Jim) Tripp of Farmington; Sandra Sutton (special friend Rick Dalton) of Aviston, IL; two grandchildren Christine (Mark) McKern and their children Megan and Grant of Barnhart; Steven Sadler (special friend Cindy Finley) and Jesse and Dylan Burlingame of Caledonia; special friend Betty Campbell and her family of Belleview, MO and numerous other relatives and friends to mourn her loss.

Rosalie was a long time member of the Caledonia United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Eastern Star and the Cedar Lodge Club. She was the oldest member of the UMW and the second oldest member of Caledonia Methodist Church.

She and Clyde raised their family on a farm outside of Caledonia where she resided until her passing. She loved to sew and quilt. She pieced many quilts for her family and friends; she passed on her love to both of her daughters.

She also worked for Valley R-6 School District as a cook at the Caledonia Elementary School for over thirty years and retired in 1998. In her years as the "Lunch Lady" she helped to teach all the children who came through her line manners and respect. She was known for her love of family and church, always there when someone needed something, spent her life helping others. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 11 AM at DeClue Chapel with the Reverends Jim West, Howard Miller and Rosalie's nephew Sam Dane officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Mark McKern, Jesse Burlingame, Andle Stevens, Earl Province, Johnny Robinson and Justin Province.

Interment and final prayers were held at Caledonia Methodist Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Caledonia United Methodist Church UMW Fence Fund, Siteman Cancer Center (Barnes Jewish Hospital) or Caledonia Valley High School Alumini Association Scholarship Fund.
