Ronald C. Wood also know by many friends as “Woody” of Potosi, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, February 13th, 2019 at the age of 73. Ron was born on May 7th, 1945 in St. Louis, Missouri a son of the late Clinton and Ilene (Sanders) Ayres. On November 19th, 1971 Ron was united in marriage to Polly Yarbrough and they shared 31 years together.
Ron will be missed by all who knew and loved him including his daughter, Jill (Cory) Franklin; step daughter, Stephanie (Don) Johnston; step son, Jeff (Patty) Fryman; brother, Albert Ayres; grandson, Chandler Franklin and Fiancé Blair Hester; six step grandchildren: Katie (Tim) Harris, Nick (Pam) Elliott, Bryan (Amber) Elliott, MaryAnna Allen, Hannah Allen, Thaddeus Allen; seven step great grandchildren: Caleb Harris, Layne Mayberry, Elizabeth Mayberry, Carson, Makayla, Myles and Briar Elliott; longtime companion and friend, Ann Foster and son William Allen; brothers-in-law: Bill Freymuth and Russell Jaycox. Ron also leaves behind nieces, nephews and a host of church family and dear friends.
In addition to Ron’s grandparents, he was preceded in death by his father and mother, Clinton and Ilene Ayres; loving wife, Polly Wood, step great grandson, Tyler Harris; brother, Ricky Ayres; sister, Debra Jaycox; brother-in-law, Rodney Yarbrough: sister-in-law, Jackie Freymuth; and special family members: Thad Allen and Sarah Kate Allen.
Visitation was held Sunday, February 17, 2019 from 10:30 AM to 3:00 PM at DeClue Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service was conducted Sunday beginning at 3:00 PM held in the DeClue Chapel with Bro. Jeff Gibson, Jr. and Pastor Trevor Kean officiating. Interment followed in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Ron received full military honors consisting of gun salute, flag folding and presentation and TAPS. Honors will be presented by the United States Army and Bismarck VFW Post 6947.
