Ronald James Portell of Potosi, Missouri passed away on January 18, 2015 at the Washington County Memorial Hospital having reached the age of seventy four years, eleven months, and four days. He was born on February 14, 1940 a son to the late William Martin Portell and Mary Genevieve Portell.
On August 26, 1972, Ronald was united in marriage to his wife Joyce (Sansoucie) Portell. Together they shared forty two years of marriage.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are his beloved wife Joyce Portell of Potosi, Missouri; daughter Dawn Bourbon and husband Harry of Potosi, Missouri; son Walker Portell and wife Priscilla of Festus, Missouri; brother Carl Portell and wife Mary Catherine of Old Mines, Missouri; four grandchildren: Michael Bourbon, Matt Portell, Cody Portell, Chantel Portell; two great-grandchildren: Carson and Mattie Sue Portell; and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Ronald is preceded in death by his three sisters: Margaret Rundall, Virgina Boyer, and Karen Portell; and his four brothers: Tom Portell, Joe Portell, Bill Portell, and Don Portell.
Funeral services for Ronald were held on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at 10:00 AM at the St. Joachim Catholic Church with Father Tony Dattilo officiating concelebrated with Father Robert Liss. Musical selections were provided by the St. Joachim Choir.
Honoring Ronald by serving as his pallbearers were Mike Bourbon, Walker Portell, Matt Portell, Charlie Portell, Timothy Portell, and Dale DeClue.
Military Honors were provided by the U.S. Army and VFW Post 6996 in honor of Ronald's service to our great country.
Interment and final prayers were held the Portell Cemetery. All arrangements were respectfully entrusted to the care and direction of DeClue Funeral Home.
