Ronald Magee

July 27, 1946 — February 25, 2011

Ronald Wade Magee of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on February 25, 2011 at the Washington County Memorial Hospital having reached the age of sixty four years, six months and twenty nine days. He was born on July 27, 1946 at Texas City, Texas a son to the late Virgil Magee and Wanda (Pickle) Magee.

Many things can be said about Ronnie Magee. The man had many parts. In his high school years, he played football for the Aransas Pass Panthers. He loved the smell of the fresh-cut grass on the playing field. Many times after practice he enjoyed eating cold fried chicken straight from the refrigerator.

In 1963, the war in Vietnam called on him, taking him away from an athletic scholarship and what looked to be a promising college football career. Over the next four years he would proudly serve our country as a United States Marine, a fact that he proudly carried with him until the day he died.

For the next thirty years, after his services in the Corp., he would work in restaurant management, building quite an impressive resume that would often deem him over-qualified. After running the family restaurant for a few years, he would decide to leave the restaurant world for good, for the world of sales. Sales was something he also excelled in. The man could sell you on anything, from boots to cars. In just a two year period at Cavender’s, a westernwear store, he fell just a few hundred dollars short of selling one million dollars in merchandise. He once said that he could have a customer come in wanting a shirt, and before they knew it, he would have them set up with an entire outfit. Including matching boots and belt.

Ronnie was a collector of many things. The highlights of which were his extensive collection of tobacco pipes, his exotic western boots, (both collected throughout the years of his life), his shelves, upon shelves of American Bald Eagles figurines, and his astounding gold jewelry. Among his favorite hobbies were his undying love for gardening, (the man spent many days, sun-up til sun-down, proudly working the gardens in his yard) his love of Harley-Davidson motorcycles, (he spent countless hours riding and working on his bike getting it ready for the next big ride, rally or auto show) and spending time with his family. These things brought him peace.

Above all, Ronnie Wade Magee was a family man and a man of God. He loved the Lord Jesus Christ and wanted to share Him with everyone. He loved all of his children and family beyond measure. Everything he did was always for his family. He always strived to provide them with the very best. He will be remembered as a loving husband, brother, a wonderful father and a great man. Rest now, you deserve it.

Those who remain to mourn his passing are five sons Brandon Magee and wife Whitney of Belgrade; Ronald Magee, II of Corpus Christi, Texas; Chad Sullivan of Oklahoma; Todd Magee of Texas; Kelly Magee of Texas; three daughters Charlotte “Desiree” Magee of Corpus Christi, Texas; Krislena Magee of Texas; Jennifer Magee of Texas; sister Lona Clifton of Temple, Texas; six grandchildren Caden Teeples, Noah Magee, Aubrie Magee, Amber Magee, MaKaela Cantu, Meghan Sullivan; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.
