Rodger Goodson

October 24, 1956 — September 14, 2007

Rodger ?Dodie? Goodson of Hopewell, Missouri, departed this life on September 14, 2007, at the age of 50 years, 10 months and 21 days. He was born on October 24, 1956 at Bonne Terre, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bessie and James Olin Goodson; one brother, Jim Goodson; and a sister Mary Snowdell.

Dodie, as he was known to family and friends, was an artist. He could make beautiful pictures out of pieces of wood, inlaying the wood beautifully. He loved plants and had such a green thumb that he couldn?t kill a plant if he tried. Many times, people would give their near dead plants to him and he would bring them back to life. His biggest joy in his life was his son, Nathan. He was especially proud of the fact that Nathan had inherited his musical ability. They wrote songs, played and sang together often, which brought Dodie much joy. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those who remain to mourn his passing from this life are his mother Catherine Dee of Wright City; one son Nathan Goodson of Hopewell; two brothers Richard Dee of Warrenton and Irvin Goodson and wife, Joyce of Hopewell; three sisters, Glenda Scott of Wright City, Velma Miller of Park Hills and Beverly Jarvis of Hopewell; nieces, nephews cousins and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 PM on Monday, September 17, 2007 at the Britton Chapel, with Rev. Jim Wade officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Danny Buhler, Darryl Merrell, Eddie Owens, Gary Brokaw, Mark Owens and Larry Lee.

Interment and final prayers were held at the Hopewell Cemetery, Mineral Point, Missouri, with all arrangements entrusted in the care of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
