Robert F. McMahan, Sr. departed this life on February 7, 2013 at the Georgian Gardens Nursing Home having reached the age of eighty three years, ten months and twenty seven days. He was born on March 11, 1929 in Smithfield, Ohio a son to the late William Alfred McMahan and Grace (McIntyre) McMahan.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a son Roger McMahan; three brothers Kenneth McMahan, Lester McMahon, Walter McMahon; three sisters Virginia Dickinson, Louise Miller and Marge Marler.
On June 11, 1948, Bob was united in marriage to Winnie Smith and they shared sixty four years together.
Bob accepted Jesus as his Savior at an early age. He worked at the Brown Shoe Co in Potosi and at the Amex Mines in Bixby, Missouri. He was a faithful volunteer at Potosi Seniors Citizens for fifteen years and he especially enjoyed working in his garden.
Bob passed away surrounded by the prayers and love of those who knew him.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are his wife Winnie McMahan of Mineral Point; daughter Donna Adams and husband Gene of Mineral Point; two sons Robert McMahan, Jr. and wife Kathy of Mineral Point; Cecil Davis and wife Tammy of Belgrade; foster son Donald Courtway of Caledonia; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.
A funeral service was conducted on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 2 PM at the DeClue Chapel with Rev. Kenny Gamble officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Bob McMahan Jr., Travis McMahan, Cecil Davis, Shane Hoefelman, Ronnie Adams and Wesley Breakfield. Serving as an Honorary pallbearer was Andrew Breakfield.
Interment and final prayers were held at the Sunset Hill Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
