Richard Skaggs

Richard Dean Skaggs, 70, of Farmington, Missouri, also lovingly known as “Rick”, was born on April 19, 1954, in Bonne Terre, Missouri, a son of the late James and Melba (Forester) Nipper. Rick passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at his home with his family by his side.

On July 20, 1973, Rick was united in marriage to Connie Rodgers and they shared 50 years together.
Those who remain to treasure Rick’s memory include his loving wife, Connie Skaggs; three sons: Kerry Klein (Kristen), Rick Skaggs Jr. (Kim), Chris Skaggs (Sarah); grandchildren: Keri Klein (Cody Cook), Shayne Simon (Joel), Brandon Klein, Kaleb Warden, Mike Clark, Chloe Helms (Kyle), Cody Skaggs (Fiancé, Faith Henry), Brett Skaggs, Austin Skaggs, Logan Shropshire (Josh), and Brady Shropshire; six great grandchildren: Kendrick, Nolan, and Blair Simon, Mela and Madilyn Cook, and Slade Clark; four siblings: David Skaggs (Carol), Eddie Nipper (Melinda), Elsie Nipper, and Vickie Piercy (Richard); as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

In addition to Rick’s father and mother, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Paul and Wanda Rodgers and many other dear family members.

Rick retired after many years of being employed by Missouri Department of Corrections, serving as both a corrections officer and ending as maintenance supervisor. Rick loved his family as well as his puppies. Rick greatly enjoyed traveling with Connie to Las Vegas. Rick enjoyed watching St. Louis Cardinals Baseball and in past times, hunting and fishing.

In celebrating Rick’s life, the family invites you to join them for a time of visitation on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at DeClue Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until the time of his Memorial Service at 2 p.m. Pastor Sheldon Marler will be officiating. Musical selections will be: “Dancing in the sky”, Some call it Heaven, I call it Home”, and “Jealous of the Angels”. Funeral arrangements were respectfully entrusted to the care and direction of DeClue Funeral Home.
