Rev. Joseph Gensler

September 3, 1922 — December 12, 2017

Rev. Joseph Oscar Gensler of Belgrade, Missouri was born on September 3, 1922, a son to the late Oscar Gensler and the late Josie (Crawford) Gensler. Joseph was united in marriage to Wilda Marler on June 5, 1972 in Festus, Missouri.

Joe entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at the Potosi Manor Nursing Home having reached the age of ninety-five years.

Brother Gensler was a licensed minister with the Church of God, Cleveland, Tennessee for many years and retired from the ministry as a licensed minister with the Full Gospel International. During his time in the ministry, Brother Gensler served as a traveling evangelist for many years, even preaching gospel out of a tent for several years. Brother Gensler served two terms as pastor of the Arnauldt Branch Church of God. In addition, he served as a church planter and founding pastor of two congregations, St. James Church of God and Bismarck Church of God. His last pastorate was at Pea Ridge Pentecostal Church. Brother Gensler was a much sought after Bible teacher, specializing in end time prophecy.

Joe served in the United States Army Air Force from January 1, 1943 until September 24, 1945.

Joe will be missed by all who knew and loved him including his beloved wife of forty-five years, Wilda Gensler of Belgrade; son, Derek Gensler of Bismarck; two step-daughters: Diane Lands of Bismarck, and Terry Lands of Caledonia; five grandchildren: Austin, Caylin, Holly, Jimmy, and Roxanna; one great-grandson; and many step grandchildren, extended family members, and dear friends.

In addition to his parents, Joe is preceded in death by his son, Joseph Paul Gensler; daughter, Sharon "Pinky" Carson; sisters: Maude Merritt, Mary Etta Bridgeman, and Edna Bridgeman; and one brother, Bill Gensler.

Visitation for Joe was held on Friday, December 15, 2017 at the DeClue Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

A Funeral Service was conducted on Saturday, December 15, 2017 at 10:00 AM held in the DeClue Memorial Chapel with Pastor Bob Adams officiating.

Interment and final prayers will be held at the New Diggins Cemetery. Full military honors were presented by the United States Army and VFW Post 6996. All funeral arrangements have been cared for by the DeClue Funeral Home.
