Ray Benson

Ray Benson of Potosi, Missouri departed this life May 14, 2010 at the Parkland Hospital having reached the age of ninety four years, eight months and four days. He was born on September 10, 1915 at Potosi, Missouri a son to the late John William Benson and Idabelle (Hayes) Benson.

In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his wife Mildred J. Benson; two brothers Albert Benson, Arthur Benson; four sisters Edna Proctor, Mildred Jenkins, Helen Sisk, Becky Gibson and a great grandchild Toby Robart.

Those who remain to mourn his passing are three sons John Benson and wife Ruth Ann of Potosi; Robert ?Bob? Benson and wife Eleanor of Potosi; Dale Benson and wife Marylyn of St. James; daughter Mary Ann Thurman and husband John of Bonne Terre; nineteen grandchildren; thirty four great grandchildren; eighteen great great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services were conducted on Monday, May 17, 2010 at 2 PM at the DeClue Family Chapel with Elder Leonard Compton officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Ronnie Benson, Randy Benson, Tyler Benson, Allen Woods, John Waller, Buck Benson and John Short.

Interment and final prayers were held at Redbud Memorial Gardens. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
