Raven Pruitt

February 24, 1999 — September 25, 2011

Raven Dae Pruitt of Blackwell, Missouri departed this life on September 25, 2011 at her residence having reached the age of twelve years, seven months and one day. She was born on February 24, 1999 at Festus, Missouri.

Although Raven lost her battle to a type of cancer known as Neuroblastoma she touched so many lives. Many citizens of Washington County and the students and employees of Kingston School Districts loved and supported Raven during her battle. In honor of Raven and to demonstrate their continuous love for her they banded together and started the "Rally for Raven" campaign.

Raven loved animals and especially dogs. She was very knowledgeable about dogs and was familiar with almost every breed. She enjoyed the outdoors and was a great hunter. She spent a lot time fishing and swimming.

When you look at the stars remember Raven. When Raven's mother, Shana, passed away her "Pop", Steve, told Raven that her mother was in the stars shinning down on her. That was comforting for Raven. Raven will now and as she always has shine so bright amongst the stars.

Raven was granted a wish by the Make-A-Wish Foundation. She took a trip to Los Angeles, California to meet Pauley Perrette. Pauley portrays the character Abby on show NCIS. During her visit with Pauley she was able to have a three hour tour on the NCIS set and practiced a script for an upcoming episode. Raven was so excited to make that trip and was forever grateful for her wish to be granted. Pauley truly made Raven feel extremely special and very comfortable that day.

In addition to Raven, she was preceded in death by her mother Shana Pruitt; great grandmother Dorothy Pruitt and great grandfather John Lamkey.

Those who remain to mourn her passing are her grandparents, also known as parents, Walter Stephen Pruitt and Debra Pruitt of Blackwell; biological father Floyd Anthony Sappington of Hillsboro; grandmother Cathy Cunningham and husband Roger of Cuba, Mo; grandfather Floyd G. Sappington and wife Willa of Marshall, Mo; great grandfather Walter Pruitt of Blackwell; great grandmother Evelyn Lamkey of Potosi; sisters Alexis Pruitt and Heaven Sappington; brothers Noah Pruitt and Jake Sappington; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will sadly miss her.

Raven's family wants to thank the community, family and friends that have been so supportive throughout Raven's battle with cancer. They know that God has a new angel and the night sky has a new star.

A Prayer Service was conducted on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 6 PM at the DeClue Chapel with Mrs. Natalie Villmer and Mrs. Debbie Phipps from St. Joachim Catholic Church.
