Ralph Walter Robison of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on April 12, 2013 at the Potosi Manor Nursing Home having reached the age of ninety one years, three months and thirteen days. He was born on December 30, 1921 in Crook County, Wyoming a son to the late William A. Robison and Anna (Oslood) Robison.
Ralph served in the United States Marines during WWII. He enlisted at Denver, Colorado on the 23rd day of September, 1941 and was discharged on the 6th day of November 1945. He served in the pacific area from December 17, 1941 to October 21, 1945. He participated in action against the enemy at Okinawa, Ryukyu Islands from April 1st to April 14, 1945. He attained the rank of private first class. Ralph was a qualified pistol marksman and a machine gun crewman.
Ralph retired from IBEW after 60 plus years.
Ralph took loving care of his wife Vada during her illness.
He was a loving and generous man to all his "grand" children. Especially, Presley Smith, who was born on his 88th birthday. He called her his twin.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are five step children Wanda Blair and husband Roger of Potosi, Eddie Skiles and wife Gerrie of Potosi, Judy Bernacke and husband Bob of Potosi, Randy Skiles, Wilford Pete Skiles; special granddaughter Debbie Blair of Potosi; special great granddaughter Kayla Pinson Smith and husband Kevin; brother Gerald Robison; two sisters Geraldine Kilroy and Phyllis Frantz; twenty grandchildren and thirty six great grandchildren; thirty six great great grandchildren totaling ninety two and other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his wife Vada (Skiles) Robison; two brothers George W. Robison, Earl Robison; three step daughters Alice Blair Thompson, Carlene Cain, Jessie Skiles and a step son Ronald Skiles.
Funeral services were conducted on Monday, April 15, 2013 at 11 AM at the DeClue Chapel with Rev. Jamie Haguewood officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Brian Skiles-Army, Chad Skiles-Army, Paul Blair-Marines, Tony Blair-Army, Michael Blair, Danny Blair-Marines, Jackson Porter and Aaron Porter.
Interment and final prayers were held at the Hopewell Cemetery where Full Military Honors were presented by the United States Marines and Local VFW Post# 6996. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
