Perry Prather

January 12, 1924 — February 6, 2008

Perry Edward Prather of Mineral Point, Missouri departed this life at his residence on February 6, 2008, having reached the age of eighty-four years and twenty-five days. He was born at Gumbo, Missouri on January 12, 1924, a son of the late Perry Prather and Maggie (Bailey) Prather.

On June 17, 1944, he was united in marriage to Katherine Marie Coleman at Leadington, Missouri and one child was born to that union. They spent over thirty five happy years of marriage together. Katherine preceded him in death on April 21, 1980. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather; a dear brother, uncle, cousin and friend.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a long-time member of the Potosi Elks. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter.

In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by his son Kenny Prather on October 29, 1972 and four brothers Wayne, Hubert, Berlen and Curtis Prather.

Those who remain to mourn the passing of his life include his granddaughter, Nanette Fletcher and husband, Derek of Lowell, Arkansas; daughter in-law Mary Hieman and husband Dan of Bella Vista, Arkansas; two sisters, Mildred Gilmore of Farmington, Wilma Coleman and husband, Walter of DeSoto; two brothers, Delbert Prather of Park Hills, Jim Prather and wife, Lavern of Leadington; three great granddaughters, Savana, Heather and Ashley Prather-Fletcher; nieces; nephews; cousins and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services were conducted on Friday, February 8, 2008 at 1 PM at the Britton Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Rev. Greg McCord officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Michael Griffin, Michael Prather, Marvin Prather, Paul Prather, Kevin Prather and Mitch Griffin.

Interment and final prayers were held at Calvary Cemetery, Potosi, Missouri. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
