Percy Leroy Warden

July 25, 1937 — September 23, 2016

Percy Leroy Warden was called home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, September 23, 2016 at the Washington County Memorial Hospital having reached the age of seventy nine years, one month and twenty nine days. He was born on July 25, 1937 in Hopewell, Missouri, a son to the late Robert Roy Warden and the late Olive Elizabeth (Winfield) Warden.

On June 1, 1956 Leroy was united in marriage to Phyllis Ives in Caledonia, Missouri. To this union there were two children born. Leroy worked for Nooter Corp. for fourteen years. After leaving Nooter Corp. he moved to Belgrade and bought the old Austin Store. He ran Warden’s Market for two years when he then sold it and went to work for Hannah Mining Company in Pilot Knob for nine years until the company shut down. Following his career at the mines Leroy bought Quade Sales and Service and served the community from 1984 until 1991. After his retirement in 1991, Leroy enjoyed his family, friends and hobbies for the remainder of his years. He went hunting and fishing with his family and friends whenever they would ask. Leroy also enjoyed playing card games, and while he didn’t get mad if he lost, he was very fierce as a competitor.

Leroy accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior in 1983 and loved and served him for the rest of his life. He often spoke to others about their salvation and would witness to them at the drop of a hat, so great was his love for Christ and his fellowman.

Leroy is survived by his beloved wife of sixty years, Phyllis Warden of Belgrade; two daughters Vicki Trokey and husband Joe of Cadet; Lisa King and husband Mike of Potosi; three brothers James "Bud" Worden of Hallsville, Missouri; Dan Warden and wife Shady of Lesterville, Missouri; Sam Warden and wife Gail of St. Louis, Missouri; four sisters Olivia "Liz" Huitt of DeSoto; Jeanette Kite of DeSoto; Etta Mae Tripp of Overbrook, Kansas; Hopie Jenkins and husband Junior of Belgrade; two grandchildren Natalie Hinkle and husband Nathan of Potosi and Adam King and wife Angela of Potosi; three great grandchildren Ayden Hinkle, Devin Sandefur and Kiera King; sister-in-law Judy Warden of Washington, Missouri; also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and many dear friends who will forever love and miss him.

In addition to his parents, Leroy was preceded in death by one sister Pauline Light; two brothers Jerry "Wendy" Warden and Delbert Warden; sister-in-law Jean Worden; four brothers-in-law Jesse Huitt, Dave Tripp, Aaron "Butch" Kite and Harel Light.
