Paulie Schrum, a lifelong resident of Potosi, Missouri, was born on October 14, 1933 in Courtois, Missouri, one of thirteen children to Harry Schrum and Grace (Sullivan) Schrum.
As a young man, Paulie set forth a strong work ethic. Throughout his career, Paulie retired twice. First, from Brown Shoe Company after thirty plus years of service and second, from Potosi R-3 School District after 25 years of service as a mechanic. Paulie loved working on hot rods in his younger years as well as riding motorcycles especially a BSA Lightning. Paulie liked taking road rides and honking his horn at all of his friends, fishing, gigging, fish fries, spending time with his family, four wheeler riding, and camping. Paulie also enjoyed playing the lottery. He was a lifetime member of the Potosi Elks Lodge #2218.
Paulie passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2022 at his home having reached the age of 88 years, 4 months and 20 days.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include his two daughters: Sandy Gallagher (Husband, Pat) and Brooke Schrum; four step children: Larry Bourbon Jr. (wife, Tina), Bryon Bourbon Sr. & Fiancé, Mary Wright, Rhonda Bourbon & Tim Rundel, and Tammy Weston; dearest friend and longtime companion, Pat Bourbon; twenty grandchildren: Aimee Eaton (Matt), Katie Coleman, Trey Bourbon, Kaitlynn Hall (Marcus), Jace Bourbon, Bryon Bourbon Jr., Adryon Bourbon, Canyon Bourbon,Jeremy Nickelson, Blake Rulo, Tasha Bourbon, Haleigh Bleckler, Heather Bleckler & Jake Neff, Tess Mercille & Fiancé Garrett West, Hannah Coffey (husband, Jake),Tanner Weston, Shawnee Rulo, Emmitt Maxwell, Mellisa Robert (Jason, and Michelle Taber (Gabe); nineteen great grandchildren; special family friends: Crystal & Allen Maxwell, Larry Bourbon Sr.; Paulie is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Paulie was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Grace Schrum; and twelve siblings: Houston Schrum, Lloyd Schrum, Elmer Schrum, Harold Schrum, Ralph Schrum, Earl Schrum, Lindell Schrum, Rodney Schrum, Gladys Blount, Blanch Thompson and Maude Badgley, and Scottie Schrum.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 9, 2022 from 11 AM to until 2 PM at DeClue Funeral Home.
An Elks Service will immediately follow the visitation Wednesday at 2 PM with a Funeral Service beginning at 2:15 PM. Brother Carl Wilson will officiate Paulie’s service.
Interment will follow in the Redbud Memorial Gardens. DeClue Funeral Home was honored to have served the family of Mr. Paulie Schrum.
