Orville Winick

February 11, 1938 — July 20, 2011

Orville Albert Winick, Sr. of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on July 20, 2011 at the Missouri Baptist Medical Center having reached the age of seventy three years, five months and nine days. He was born on February 11, 1938 a son to the late Albert Winick and Dorothy (Lamkey) Winick.

On June 6, 1960, Orville was united in marriage to Shirley Beck and they shared fifty one years together. Five children were born to this union.

Orville was a hard working and wonderful man who lived life to the fullest. He loved fishing, coon hunting and working on his farm. He loved his family dearly and was never happier than when he was holding a newborn baby in his arms. His grandchildren will always treasure memories of sitting at the pond fishing, riding around looking at the cows or wandering thru the woods looking for unusual or interesting shaped rocks. He will live forever in the hearts of those who love him.

In addition to his parents, Orville was preceded in death by a brother Charles “Chucky” Winick and a brother in law Ernest “Ernie” Harr.

Those who remain to mourn his passing are his wife Shirley Winick of Potosi; four daughters Melinda (Mark) Thompson of Potosi, Julie (Kenneth) Kircher of Potosi, Shirley (David) Kircher of Dittmer, Joni (Jimmy) Gehrs of Desoto; son Orville (LuAnn) Winick, Jr. of Potosi, six sisters Marie Harr of Potosi, Lavaeda (Orville) Wells of Ironton, Wanda (Bill) Politte of Irondale, Deloice (Raymond) Cover of Mineral Point, Vernita (Earl) Waltzes of Potosi, Debra Pidcok and husband Ralph Ward of Bonne Terre, brother Dale (Janice) Winick of Hopewell, eight grandchildren Mark A. Thompson, Nena L. Kircher and husband Daeton DeGrant, Bethany Kircher, Kenneth W. Kircher, David M. Kircher, Jaden Gehrs, Phillip Kircher, Ryle Gehrs; one great grandchild Blake Alexander Thompson; dear friend J.D. Gammon and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 11 AM at the DeClue Chapel with Rev. John Ray officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Mark A. Thompson, Kenneth W. Kircher, David M. Kircher, Mark C. Thompson, Daeton H. DeGrant and Jimmy Gehrs.

Interment and final prayers were held at the Winick Family Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
