Opal Wilkerson

Opal V. Wilkerson of Potosi, Missouri was born on March 28, 1931 in Shoal Creek, Missouri a daughter to the late Rev. John L. Britton and the late Allie (Wilkinson) Britton. On February 9, 1951 Opal was united in marriage to Joseph Wilkerson at the Breton Creek Baptist Church and they shared nearly sixty-five years together.
Opal went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family at the age of eighty-six.
Survivors include her two daughters: Nancy (John) Eisenbeis of Potosi, Missouri; Connie (Tim) Boatright of St. Charles, Missouri; brother, Donald (Madeline) Britton of Cuba, Missouri; sister, Erma (Dr. Jack) Holley of O’ Fallon, Missouri; five grandchildren: Amy Eisenbeis, Lisa Eisenbeis, April (Noah) Hill, Andrew (LeAllison) Boatright and Christopher Boatright; four great grandchildren: Karson, Max, Britton and Grady Hill; sisters-in-law: Barbara Britton-Walls and Ava Gay Britton; brother-in-law: Jack (Juanita) Wilkerson; special friends: Dr. Alan Banaszynski, Renita McGinnis, Kristie Logsden and Mary Vandergriff; also surviving are several other special caregivers, nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
In addition to her father and mother, Opal was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joe Wilkerson; two brothers: Al Britton and John T. Britton; three sisters: Dolorece (Rev. Freeman) Gibson, Beulah (Charles) Akers and Marie (Rev. Harry “H.W.”) Darst. Opal was also preceded in death by many other family members.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 3, 2017 from 4-8 p.m. and Monday, December 4, from 9-11 a.m. at the DeClue Funeral Home 301 East High Street, Potosi, Missouri 63664.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 4, 2017 at 11 a.m. held in the DeClue Memorial Chapel with Rev. Tim Boatright officiating.
Interment and final prayers will be held at the Redbud Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
