Oda Mae Shelton of Bonne Terre, Missouri departed this life on October 15, 2007 at St. Joe Manor Nursing Home, having reached the age of 79 years, 4 months and 1 day. She was born on June 14, 1928 at Potosi, Missouri, a daughter of the late Percy Sloss and Millisa Thurman Sloss.
She was united in marriage to Cruise Shelton on January 16, 1957 at Potosi, Missouri and Mr. Shelton preceded her in death on May 1, 1980. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Alvie Sloss, John Sloss, Ed Sloss, and Lynn Sloss.
Oda Mae was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a dear sister, aunt, cousin and friend.
Those who remain to mourn the passing of her life include two sons, Robert Shelton and wife, Leslie of Leadwood, Emory Shelton and wife Connie of Ellington; three sisters, Myrtle Duncan of Potosi, Norma Jean Cooper of Berkley, MO, Shirley Owens and husband, Ira of Potosi; two grandchildren, Shaunna Shelton Knoblock, Sarah Shelton; one great grandchild, McKenzie Semon; nieces; nephews; cousins and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at 1 PM at the Britton Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Rev. Don Burke officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Terry Sloss, Mat Farr, Jerry Sloss, Bub Owens, Claude Evans and Bud Eye.
Interment and final prayers were held at Souls Chapel Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
