Norma Essmyer

January 4, 1930 — July 25, 2018

Norma Catherine Essmyer of Mineral Point, Missouri was born on January 4, 1930 in Potosi, a daughter to the late John C. Sloan and the late Ida Ellen (Baker) Sloan. Norma was united in marriage on July 3, 1948 to Carl L. "Squire" Essmyer and four sons were born unto this union.

Norma passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at Des Peres Hospital having reached eighty-eight years of age. In addition to her parents, Norma is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl Essmyer; son, Jesse Monroe Essmyer; brothers: Monroe Sloan and John Tommy Sloan; and sister, Imogene Smith.

Norma will be missed by all who knew and loved her including three sons: Martin (Lisa) Essmyer, Tim Essmyer, and John Essmyer; brothers: Newton Sloan and Larry Sloan; sisters: Doris Casebolt, Lillian Essmyer, and Judy (Richard) Heeter; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Robin Essmyer.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 27, 2018 at DeClue Funeral Home from 4:30 PM until 8:00 PM and on Saturday, July 28, 2018, beginning at 9:00 AM,

A funeral service for Norma will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 11:00 AM, held in the DeClue Memorial Chapel. Interment and final prayers will be held at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Potosi.
