Nelson Lawson of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on June 20, 2006 at the National Health Care Center, Desloge, having reached the age of 88 years, 2 months and 18 days. He was born on April 2, 1918 at Potosi, Missouri, a son of the late Nelson Lawson and Nora Belle (Vance) Lawson.
He was united in marriage to Joyce K. Smith on December 9, 1939 at Ironton, Missouri. Joyce preceded him in death on September 13, 1971.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Nelson was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Jean Lawson; five brothers, Clifford Lawson, John Lawson, Pat Lawson Rube Lawson and Sam Lawson; and seven sisters, Ethel Morgan, Susan Parmley, Lucy Sansegraw, Marcella Woods, Hester Woods, Josephine Evans and Ruby Winick.
Those who remain to mourn the passing of his life include his children, Stanley Lawson of Farmington, Ronald Lawson and wife Beth of Sorento, IL, Martin Lawson and wife Michelle of Potosi, Russell Lawson and wife Vickie of Potosi, Sue Jenkins and husband John of Kansas City, Irene Lawson of Farmington, Kathryn Forrester of Leadwood; six brothers, Epsin Lawson and wife Doris of Potosi, Earl Lawson of Potosi, Rueben Lawson and wife Susan of Potosi, Joseph ?Bud? Lawson and wife Jane of Banner, James Lawson and wife Eileen of Park Hills, Eddie Lawson and wife Belinda of Ironton; three sisters Marie Skiles of Cadet, Mildred King of Potosi, Deloris Woods and husband Ray of Adam, TN; eleven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 PM on Friday, June 23, 2006 at the Britton Chapel with Rev. Joseph ?Bud? Lawson and Rev. Leonard Compton officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Russell Lawson, James Lawrence, Andrew Lawson, Mike Lawson, Joe Lawson and J. Lee Lawson.
Interment and final prayers were held at Furnace Creek Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
